Underfloor heating sensor cable
Apologies for not writing in my poor Swedish.
I have a probably stupid question.
I just replaced the thermostat (it was constantly heating and sometimes said replace the sensor). The new one comes with a 2.9 m sensor cable while the old one was shorter in length.
Can the sensor cable be cut to the length of the old one without alternation its impedance?
The new thermostat works but doesn't stop at the program with temperature. I believe that, being longer, it is not positioned correctly.
Tack!

The cable length between thermostat and sensor has no or little influence on the temperature measuring process.
Normally when one replace the thermostat, you don't replace the sensor itself, you just connect the old sensor to the new thermostat
But you need to ensure that the new thermostat is compatible with the existing sensor, ie the resistance of the sensor, 1, 5, 10 kohm etc works with the new thermostat.
See manual for the new thermostat what sensor resistans it supports.

Tanks a lot for your answer.E etompau skrev:The cable length between thermostat and sensor has no or little influence on the temperature measuring process.

In fact, I had to change the sensor because the old one had an impedance (15 Kohm and 20K measured at cold) much higher than the new one (10 Kohm). Plus, the old thermostat started to flash the light signaling to replace the sensor.
Does it make sense to cut the new sensor at the same length of the old one and re-introduce it (hoping it will sense the same are)?
Has the new thermostat a display that can show the floor temperature? If yes, does it show a reasonable correct temperature value?
Can you elaborate a little regarding "doesn't stop at the program with temperature" .
Do you have link to the new thermostat?

Sorry, the autotranslate changed the words.E etompau skrev:
I meant, it doesn’t stop at the programmed temperature. You set it to 20 degrees, the led turns on and it starts heating up. But when the temperature is reached it doesn’t stop and the led remains on and heating.
The thermostat is:

If you adjust the temperature knob between max. and min. temperatures, can you see that the thermostat switches the heating on and off? If yes, at what temperature settings does the switching occur?
Are you sure that the new sensor has been placed at a correct position where it can sense the floor temperature in the correct way?

Yes, the thermostat switches on and off by adjusting the temperature. At about 21-22 degrees the relay clicks and the led turns on. The same decreasing below 21, it clicks off.E etompau skrev:If you adjust the temperature knob between max. and min. temperatures, can you see that the thermostat switches the heating on and off? I am sure that the sensor is in the wrong position. Since I was not sure about reducing its length I introduced it completely and it is probably far from where it should be. As soon as I can I'll cut it to the same length as the old one and reposition it. I hope that answers your questions.
