My experience with Bygghemma has been extremely frustrating and far from acceptable. I ordered a front door, a sidelight, and a Yale lock for my villa, which is currently undergoing total renovation. The order was placed on April 21, 2024, and although the Yale lock was delivered without any issues, there were serious problems with the rest of the delivery.

First of all, I found out that the front door had been damaged during transport. This was discovered after countless calls and transfers to various departments as I tried to find out where my door was since the carpenters on site needed it. The transport company DSV informed me that the door had been broken (PS I don't understand how you can break a damn front door) and I was directed back to Bygghemma for more information.

Despite several attempts to contact Bygghemma via both phone and email, I received unclear responses with email feedback taking at least 4-5 days delay. It is completely unreasonable. On May 19, almost a month later, I was informed that the sidelights I purchased were out of stock with an unclear delivery date. I was offered a refund or to accept the damaged product with a small compensation, but still, no feedback on what this "small damage" is.

The builders are on site and can't complete the front...

In summary, this experience with Bygghemma has been the worst I have ever had with any retailer. Customer service is subpar with unacceptably long response times. I absolutely do not recommend Bygghemma. If you are considering buying building materials, I advise you to turn to Bauhaus instead, where customer service is reliable and you at least get the support you need.
Ordered an interior door from them once. They had to send three doors in total because the first two were damaged when they arrived (yes, DSV delivered them anyway). The packaging was a joke. Barely covered in plastic with two thin wooden planks on either side of the door. I believe most of it falls on DSV, but I can't understand why Bygghemma chooses to keep a freight forwarder that can hardly ensure the goods arrive on time.

I should add that I also ordered two windows from them, also shipped with DSV, and there was nothing wrong with that.

But I've ordered various items from other places that have also caused problems for DSV. Terrible delivery times in our area, by the way, and their customer service is awful.

During the incident with the interior doors, I felt that the communication with Bygghemma worked well. But big thumbs down when they can't ensure the goods arrive intact.
Last time I ordered from them and from anywhere where DSV is the freight forwarder.

Since then, I exclusively shop at Hornbach's store in Borås, and even if there's been trouble sometimes, they fix it quickly and smoothly.

Bygghemma is dropship, they have no idea where the goods are.

Shop at Beijer instead if it's larger items, I just bought two roof window domes, exemplary handled and cheaper than the same at Hornbach.
It depends on how the shipping is booked by the delivering company. Some handle it themselves, and then Bygghemma has no idea, others book the shipping through Bygghemma's system and then they know exactly where everything is.

Now, I don't know how construction goods are booked, but for more "normal" items sent in packages, Bygghemma just switched from Schenker to DHL for those sent to collection points. For home deliveries, they currently use DSV, but the ambition is to also transition that to DHL - which I see as positive, DSV breaks everything.

Ordered a playhouse in Aug/September. In stock according to the website but understand that it is the end of the season. Postponed to January 3 and expect more postponements as no playhouses are likely made between holidays. Not informed. Two weeks into January the invoice arrives for upwards of 10,000kr. No response from customer service so informed the billing company directly that I first wanted to postpone and later dispute the invoice (when Bygghemma did not respond and the due date was close). When Bygghemma finally responds with a new out-of-thin-air date and asks if I still want it, I say yes but only if you remove the invoice for now. But nope, it’s NOT possible. They can postpone it a month at a time. Invoice for something that's already three months late without even having the item in stock... Canceled completely. Ordered anew in April and then received only a notice of about a 3-week delay but then it came. Managed to be 1000kr cheaper so that was good at least. All this time it was listed as "in stock" despite me mentioning it in my emails to them. Extremely slow in responding and a couple of my emails are not answered at all despite having a good tone and clear bullet-pointed questions. Sigh! The playhouse was nice...

Have not had problems with bygghemma, though few orders have been made from there.

Dsv also managed to wreck a front door for me. There were really deep damages in the door, and the handle had scratches that were many mm deep. Totally puzzled over how dsv managed to cause so much damage.

To blame a company Bygghemma, when it's the other company DSV, that messes up, is an ingeniously stupid argument 🤦🏼
No. As end consumers, we cannot freely choose the shipping company, the only way we can boycott DSV is by also boycotting those who hire them. More people should make that connection, otherwise, there are too few ways to hold lousy freight forwarders accountable for their shady business practices.

The last time I ordered from Bygghemma, I had to wait a month for some elfakonsoler that were in stock and should have been sent directly.

I have similar experiences with bygghemma, terrible at delivering on time. Two out of three orders I have called to check where the order is, when it will arrive, what happened. Both times it has gone astray by the carrier, so maybe not really bygghemma's fault. Both times they have eventually sent a new order, which they should get credit for. Both times the original order has then arrived a few weeks later… so I have indeed benefited from these orders, but it's very frustrating when you need the items to move forward.

The problem with Beijer is the prices.

I have shopped at Bygghemma because I have someone close to me working there who gives me a 15% discount, but due to the hassle with them, it's not even worth it then.

For bigger items, you can go in and talk to a salesperson and get a quote. This also applies to items that are not on their website. Buying one board at a time will be expensive!

We made the mistake of ordering some stuff from bygghemma, fortunately not a lot of money in the grand scheme of things. There was one thing we checked out as the cheapest possible at a byggmax store, they had the exact same one at BH but a bit more expensive, and a similar one that looked significantly better, more thought-out, and more high-end, but was maybe 40% more expensive. Since we were going to use it quite a lot over a period, we chose the more expensive one. When the items finally arrived, they had sent the cheaper version instead. When we contacted customer service to say they sent the wrong product and finally, after the usual long wait, got a reply, they first tried to lie about how the one we received was much better and that they upgraded us and we should be happy about it. When we replied that it's obviously crap and cheaper with them and even cheaper at byggmax, they answered "well, you caught us, the other one is out of stock." So we replied again that we wanted to cancel the purchase or get the difference back. After much arguing over a long time, we got back almost the difference between the one we paid for and what we got. But what kind of company tries to send a worse, cheaper product instead without notice and then argues about refunding the difference? I can only assume they do the same with more expensive items; why would it be any different? Pay for a Husqvarna 450x and receive a 415x because the 450 is out of stock? Honestly, it's better 🤩

Even though bygghemma can be troublesome at times, they have good prices and definitely work if you order well in advance for a project. In your case, you should probably review your own actions when ordering online against a deadline with workers on site a week later. A day with 2 workers probably costs as much as a front door, and local construction companies often have budget doors not so far off from bygghemma's prices, sounds like a skewed risk distribution.

It's impossible to know what a reasonable delivery time is with them when items listed as "in stock" can have a 3-month delivery time. And that's if you don't have to deal with customer service, which replies to emails after like 1-2 weeks if you don't want to wait in a 1.5-hour phone queue to talk to "goddag yxskaft." Are you supposed to have a six-month lead time and rent a storage unit for the items in the meantime, you think?

No, you can't trust them oht.

Bygghemma as dropship can work when ordering individual items. My experience is that it's a bit of a lottery with delivery and shipping, i.e. not particularly reliable. The next challenge is, of course, dropship where they don't have the ability to consolidate the items, which in reality means you might get four different deliveries for four items that you need to be home to receive. Additionally, if you have a construction project underway, you have to bear the risk if something is damaged or delayed since contractors will need to be rescheduled at an extra cost. In the case of a construction project, it's absolutely best if you can agree with the contractors that they order and handle the materials, meaning they bear the risk if something is damaged or delayed. They usually have discounts on the materials where the buyer pays a markup, which I consider a fair deal to avoid the risk plus the contractors handle all communication with the supplier if something goes wrong.

Sometimes it can be nice to buy the material through the contractors who are on site, although maybe that wasn't possible in this case. Sure, it can be a bit more expensive, but I imagine that most things run more smoothly when the builders handle the material management.
