I live between Borås and Göteborg, and I have found some great schematics for building some furniture for our little farmhouse. Here is the thing, my husband insists I cant find what I am looking for at ByggMax and the like.

I want to build a farmhouse style table (the plan call for 2 x 10s and 4 x 4s, and 1 x 4s, none of which have I found for interior use. (http://www.shanty-2-chic.com/2012/06/fancy-x-farmhouse-table.html)

I also want to build some "barndoor" sliding nightstands (sängbord). http://www.shanty-2-chic.com/2017/03/sliding-barn-door-nightstand-diy.html We havent found the hardware here in Sweden yet to do this (for a smaller piece of furniture instead of a large door). We found a DIY plan for the hardware but cant seem to find the components for it either. Its a bit of an uphill battle here.

I also want to build a very cool glow in the dark effect outdoor dining table using cypress (or another holey wood). http://www.housebeautiful.com/home-remodeling/diy-projects/how-to/a2848/glow-in-dark-table/

I realize all of this is catered towards the american market for product shopping. So I am wondering if you guys could offer some helpful advice on how to acquire more off the beaten path items for making some unique furniture. I am originally from the USA (land of Home Depot, we love that store), and I am not fluent in swedish, men jag kan förstå lite. Any online shopping suggestions? Or places to visit in Västra Götaland? I would really like to build more pieces in the future for others as my skill level increases, and once I find a good supplier for quality materials.

Thank you in advance!

The 2x10s 4x4s and 1x4s all exist as construction lumber at any byggmax store or similar. I think you will have a hard time finding anything other than that at your local Home Depot as well (and yes, I have shopped there quite a bit).

Nevertheless, with some sanding and/or planing that type of lumber works well for furniture projects of the kind in your link. Just keep in mind that construction lumber usually isnt as dry as it needs to be for indoor furniture projects! Keep it indoors for a few months and it will have dried.

If you really do want "furniture grade" lumber you can get it too. In most species you can think of. The supplier in the link above have a very good selection.

Does Fredricsons even sell to the public? I though they only sold to construction companies. At least that is what it says on their website...

Best and cheapest timber to build "rough" furniture from is 28x70 glespanel, I have found.
Reasonably free from knots and comes at a really low cost.
